*Sometimes you might feel like giving up on everything*. You might have both good  and bad days, but more bad than good or so it seems. Everyday you might have more question than answers "what is this all for?"," am I making the right choices?" or "am I supposed to be here, now?" and most of the time you don't even know how to explain them. Life is hard, but you have to keep going,you have to rise above the waters of your soul, and bloom, no matter how hot the fire is. Believe, you're a warrior and a soldier filled with both pain and love. And life is just another beast you were meant to tame and you are the one better for the job...

Nandini Satpathy was graduated from Madras Presidency college. Met her during my NSUI years as  union minister. Delhi and then Madras.

Obliterated from the pages of history, as women often are, Odisha’s first woman Chief Minister, Nandini Satpathy, known also as the Iron Lady of Orissa, was born to a family of revolutionaries and intellectuals. During her teenage years in the ‘40s, this petite girl in a starchy cotton saree was jailed for pulling down the Union Jack from atop the edifice of Ravenshaw College.

Thus began the makings of a force to be reckoned with.

Coming up through the ranks to ultimately reach the hallowed halls of the Rajya Sabha at the mere age of 31, this grassroots student politician went on to become the I&B minister in Indira Gandhi’s first government, where she facilitated the working of the Free Bangla Radio that played a key role in the information war that was ’71. She hobnobbed with the likes of Raj Kapoor, Nargis, and Meena Kumari as India produced films around socialist films and warmed up to Russia. And still, in Delhi circles, she is best remembered as ‘Indira Gandhi’s friend’.

அனைத்தும் விலை போன காலத்தில் எம்பி பதவி யாரிடம் இருந்து என்ன பயன். ஒட்டுமொத்த பங்குதாரர்கள் தேர்தலை நடத்தி தங்கள் வணிகத்தை செய்யப் போகிறார்கள். இதில் நாம் கருத்து கூற என்ன இருக்கிறது.

எலக்சன்ல யார் ஜெயிச்சு வருவாங்க எத்தனை சீட்டு வருவாங்கன்னு டெலிபோன்ல நண்பர்கள்  கேட்கிறார்கள்.

யார் ஜெயிச்சு வந்தா மட்டும் என்ன ஆகப்போகுது! 50 வருஷமா கெடக்கிற பிரச்சனை கெடப்பிலதான் இருக்கும்.

அது காவேரி பிரச்சனையாகட்டும் கச்சத்தீவுப் பிரச்சனையாகட்டும் இல்ல சேது சமுத்திரக் கால்வாய் திட்டமாகட்டும் இல்ல தமிழ்நாட்டின் நலன்கள் சார்ந்த பல்வேறு பிரச்சனைகள் ஆகட்டும் இங்கிருந்து ஜெயிச்சு போற யாரராலும் எதுவும் ஆகப் போறது இல்ல .

எல்லா கூட்டத்தொடர்க்கும் விமானத்தில் போவாங்க வருவாங்க அலவன்ஸ் வாங்கிகிட்டு நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் கொட்டாவி விட்டு தூங்கி எழுந்து வர வேண்டியது தான்.

ஜெயிக்கிறதுல என்ன பெருமை இருக்கு. செயல்பாட்டில் ஊக்கமும்  ஒருமித்த கருத்தும் இல்லாமல் இங்கு ஒன்றும்  நிகழாது. இது வெறும் ஒரு அலங்காரப் பதவிதான். 

எந்த விதத்திலும் ஒரு எம்பி தனது தொகுதிக்கான காரியங்களைச் சாதித்துக் கொள்ள முடியாது. மசோதாக்களை எதிர்த்தோ ஆதரித்தோ இரட்டை வேடமிட்டு

வேண்டுமானால் சிலவற்றைப் பங்கு போட்டுக் கொள்ளலாம்.

ஆகவே இந்த எம்பி பதவி என்பது பல்லு இல்லாதவனுக்கு பட்டாணி கடலையைக் கொடுத்த மாதிரிதான்.

ஒரு பதவி என்றால் அதற்குரிய கம்பீரமும் நடத்தையும் செயல் திறனும் சமூகப் பொறுப்பும் இருக்க வேண்டும் அது இல்லாமல் பணத்தைக் கொடுத்து ஓட்டை வாங்கிப் பதவியில் அமர்ந்தால் அதற்கு  மக்களிடத்தில் என்ன மரியாதை இருக்கும்.

ஆகவே யார் ஜெயித்தால் என்ன எத்தனை எம்பி வந்தால் என்ன என்று ஒன்னும் ஆகப்போறது இல்லை ஐயா என்று சொல்லி  விட்டேன்.

அதுபோக ஊடகங்களில் கருத்துக்கணிப்பு என்று சொல்லுகிற  அனைவருமே திமுகவைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாகவே இருக்கிறார்கள். ஏதோ இவர்கள்தான் ஊடக நடுநிலைச் செய்தியாளர்கள் போல நிறைந்து வழிகிறார்கள்.

எத்தனை சப்பை கட்டுதல் எத்தனை விதமான மூடு மந்திரங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் பின்னாலான காரிய பின்னணி . இவர்களையெல்லாம் தேர்தல் கணிப்பாளர்கள் என்றோ சிந்தனையாளர்கள் என்றோ ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள முடியுமா? ஊதுற சங்க ஊதி வைக்கக்கூடிய ஆண்டிகள் தான் இந்த திமுக செய்தியாளர்கள். 

எனக்குத் தெரிந்து தேர்தலை நடுநிலையாக பொதுவாக சமூக பார்வையுடனும் இன்று நடந்து இருக்க கூடிய மாற்றங்களுடன் கூடிய சில முன்னெடுப்புகளை இணைத்து பேசக்கூடிய ஒரு அறிவார்ந்த ஒரு ஊடகவியலாளரை நான் பார்க்க முடியவில்லை.

நேற்று தென்காசி நாடாளுமன்றத்துக்கு உட்பட்ட குருஞ்சாக்குளம் கிராமத்தில் நேற்றைய நாளில் கருப்பு துணி கட்டியும், கருப்பு கொடி கட்டியும், பொதுமக்கள் கருப்பு பட்டை அணிந்தும் கிராபைட் திட்டத்தை எதிர்த்தார்கள்.

நேற்று குருஞ்சாக்குளம் மற்றும் பாதிப்பு அடையும் மற்ற ஊர்களில் கருப்பு பட்டை அணிந்து வாக்கு செலுத்தினர்.

நான்கு மணி வரை கிராமத்தில் உள்ள 710 வாக்குகள் உள்ள பூத்தில் வாக்கு செலுத்த செல்லவில்லை. இதனால் பதறிப்போன அதிகாரிகள் சங்கரன்கோவில் கோட்டாட்சியர் தலைமையில் நேற்று பொதுமக்களிடம் பேச்சு வார்த்தை நடத்தப்பட்டு, தென்காசி மாவட்ட அதிகாரிகள் என்னிடம் பேசிய பின்னர் நான் தலையிட்டு பொது மக்களை சமரசம் செய்து வாக்கு செலுத்த வைத்தார்கள்.

பிறகு  மாலை வாக்கு சாவடிக்கு சென்று அமைதியான முறையில் வாக்கு செலுத்தினார்கள். இதனை நேரில் சென்று நான் கண்காணித்தேன்.எந்த அரசியல் சார்பும் இல்லாமல் ஊர் நலன் கருதி செய்ய வேண்டிய கடமை.

Change is slow and gradual. You may fear change , you do your very best, you try so hard to protect yourselves and be safe. Bad things come, with no warning but you forget,  sometimes that's how good things come. It requires hard work, a bit of luck, a fair amount of self-sacrifice, and a lot of patience. Realize, you can’t have a harvest without a few weeds. So the best thing you can do is not to think, not to wonder, not to imagine, not to obsess, just breathe and have faith that everything will work for the best......
