Nehru squashes India's chances of Joining the Security Council as a Permanent Member.

On 22nd of September 1955, Jawaharlal Nehru declined the US offer to become a permanent member of the Security Council of the UNO. Here is the newspaper report that gives the necessary information. Had India taken this offer, India would have been in a position to influence the manner in which the UNO Security Council took decisions.
