பாரீஸ் பருவநிலை ஒப்பந்தத்தில் 175 நாடுகள் கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ளன. ஆஸ்திரேலியா இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்டது. ஆனால் சவுதி அரேபியா, ஈராக், நைஜீரியா, கஜகஸ்தான் உள்ளிட்ட எண்ணெய் வளம் மிகுந்த நாடுகள் இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திடவில்லை. புவி வெப்பநிலை உயர்வை 2 டிகிரி செல்சியஸுக்கு மிகாமல் கட்டுப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்பதே இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தின் இலக்கு. இதில் இந்தியாவும் கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ளது. ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்ட உலகத் தலைவர்கள் புவி வெப்பமடைவதை குறைப்பதற்கான நடவடிக்கைகளை மேலும் துரிதப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளனர்.
ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தாகும் நிகழ்வின்போது பேசிய ஐ.நா. பொதுச் செயலாளர் பான் கி மூன், "நமக்கு நேரம் குறைவாக இருக்கிறது. விளைவுகள் பற்றி சற்றும் யோசிக்காமல் செய்யும் நுகர்வு கலாச்சாரம் முடிவுக்கு வர வேண்டும். இன்று இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தில் நாம் கையெழுத்திடுவதன் மூலம் எதிர்காலத்துக்கான புதிய உடன்படிக்கையை செய்து கொள்கிறோம்" என்றார்.
Paris Agreement: More than 170 world leaders sign United Nations climate deal
A total of 175 countries have signed the Paris climate agreement at the United Nations in New York City, a record for a one-day signing of an international accord, the UN says. Key points:
Deal sets the goal of limiting global warming to 2C above pre-industrial levels.
Will come into force once countries responsible for 55pc of greenhouse gases ratify the accord.
UN chief Ban Ki-moon says world is in "a race against time". Australia will begin work to ratify the UN climate immediately and ratify within a year to exceed 2020 emissions reduction targets, Environment Minister Greg Hunt has promised.
