In 1938, the Madurai District Congress Socialist Party Conference was held in Vathalagundu.
At the conference, P. Jeeva, Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, P. Ramamurthy, and Jayaprakash Narayan were present. 1938ல் வத்தலக்குண்டு , மதுரை ஜில்லா காங்கிரஸ் சோசலிஸ்ட் கட்சி மாநாடு நடைபெற்றது.
மாநாட்டில்.ப.ஜீவா,பசும்பொன் முத்துராமலிங்கத்தேவர், பி.இராமமுர்த்தி, ஜெயப்பிரகாஷ்நாராயண் ஆகியோர்.
