இந்திய வெளியுறவுத் துறை அமைச்சர் ஜெய்சங்கர் இலங்கை சென்று திரும்பி நான்கு நாட்கள் தான் ஆகிறது. முள்ளிவாய்க்காள் நினைவு தூபி உடைப்புக்கு பின்,இலங்கை அதிபர் கோத்தபய ராஜபக்சேவை கம்யூனிஸ்ட் தொழிற்சங்கங்கள் சந்தித்தப்போது கொழும்பு துறைமுகம் கிழக்கு முனையத்தை இந்தியாவிற்கு வழங்கப்படுவதை இன்று தெளிவில்லாமல் குழப்பமான பதிலைச் சொல்லியுள்ளார். இதற்க்கு காரணம் சீனா.
கடந்த 10 வருடங்களாக கொழும்பு துறைமுகம் கிழக்கு முனையத்தை இந்தியாவிற்கு வழங்க பேச்சுவார்த்தைகள் நடந்தன. இப்பொழுது அதிபர் கோத்தபயவின் நிலைப்பாடு சந்தேகமாக உள்ளது. இந்த கொழும்பு துறைமுகம் கிழக்கு முனையத்தை அடைய சீனா, அமெரிக்கா, ஜப்பான் நாடுகளும் போட்டியில் நிற்கின்றனர். இந்தியாவிடமிருந்து நிதி உதவியும் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, இலங்கையில் பல்வேறு திட்டங்களை நிறைவேற்றிக்கொண்டும் நம்மை எளிதாக இலங்கை நினைப்பது வேதனையான விடயம்.
இந்தியாவைக் காட்டி சீனாவிடம் பணம் மட்டுமல்ல, பல உதவிகளையும் இலங்கை பெறுகின்றது. உளப்பூர்வமாக சீனாவிடம் நட்பு கொண்டு நம்மை ஏமாற்றுகின்றது. இதுதான் இலங்கையின் நிலைப்பாடு. இதை இந்திய அரசு உணரவேண்டும்.

India's preference is joint venture with the govt entities in a G2G cooperation. But who are the 'other parties'. I guess Chinese projects are new projects so no vested 'trade unionist' interest. What was the reaction of these groups when Southern container terminal was built?

There is opposition to India and now the US also in this regard due to China .....
Japan is also in.The Lanka President did not mention Japan because he was concentrating on the main issue which was to clarify that it is not a sale or a lease but a JV and that SLPA, Adanis plus others are the investors in the JV. Others includes Japan and possibly also some local companies.
