China started the construction of the Medog dam in the Tibet province, the world's largest hydropower project with 60,000MW of installed capacity and which costs near $170 billion.
The project promises to accelerate green energy expansion in China and energy transition ambitions, but it deepens tensions regarding water management with India and Bangladesh and hints to a shifting water hegemony between Beijing and New Delhi in South Asi
