Ram Manohar Lohia (23 March 1910 – 12 October 1967) was an Indian political activist of the Indian independence movement and a socialist politician. As a nationalist, he worked actively to protest against colonialism, raising awareness of the same. He founded multiple socialist political parties and later won elections to the Lok Sabha.

Freedom fighter. Nationalist. Socialist. Writer. Thinker. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was all of these and remained just one thing throughout - "I have nothing with me except that the common and poor people of India think that I am perhaps their own man." That one line is his entire biography. He didn't import socialism from Europe or the West. He constructed it from our Indian soil - from the village, the field, the common man and woman. He believed political freedom means nothing without social and economic equality. That belief is not history; it is still the unfinished work of every person in public life. Heartfelt tributes to a giant on his Jayanti. #LohiaJayanti
