I just finished reading 'Mother Mary Comes to Me," and it was a deeply complex experience. Which Mary Roy is the real one? On one hand, she’s seen as a woman who destroyed her husband and nearly her two children — it's a miracle they survived, perhaps due to the aristocratic bloodline she inherited from her father. On the other hand, Mary Roy emerges as a visionary, rebel, educationalist, and champion of gender equality. The book also dives into intense political movements like the Narmada Valley agitation, the Naxalite movement, and the brutality faced by urban Naxals.
A striking paradox is that Mary clung to her husband’s title, while Ranjit Roy was buried (possibly after converting to Christianity), and Mary, a staunch Syrian Christian, was cremated in the Hindu tradition.
