பாட்டுக்கொரு கவிஞர், முண்டாசு கவி, எட்டயபுரம் பாரதி பிறந்த வீட்டின் மேல் தளம் விழுந்து இன்றோடு 100 நாட்கள் ஆகின்றன. இன்று வரை தமிழக அரசு அதைச் சீரமைக்கவில்லை. பலமுறை முதலமைச்சர் கவனத்திற்குக் கொண்டு சென்றும் எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் இல்லை. பாரதியை வேறு முகமாகப் பார்ப்பதோ, புறக்கணிப்பதோ திராவிட இயக்கங்களுடைய சித்தாந்தம் என்றால் அது வருத்தம் அளிக்கிறது. பாரதி தமிழ்நாட்டிற்குப் பொதுவானவர். இந்திய தேசியத்தையும் மதித்தார், தமிழையும் மதித்தார். அது மட்டுமல்ல மதசார்பின்மையைப் போற்றிய ஒரு உத்தமமான கவிஞர். அவருடைய நினைவு இல்லம் கலைஞராலேயே நிறுவப்பட்டது. தன் தந்தையால் நிறுவப்பட்ட பாரதி இல்லத்தைப் புனரமைக்கக் கூட இதுவரை திரு ஸ்டாலின் அவர்களின் அரசு எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்கவில்லை என்பது வருத்தம் தரும் விடயம்.
It has been 100 days since the roof of the upper floor of the great poet Bharati’s birthplace in Ettayapuram collapsed. Yet, the Tamil Nadu government has taken no steps to restore or repair it. Despite multiple appeals to the Chief Minister, there has been no action.
This indifference is deeply disappointing—just like the government's silence on the issue of attacks on Rameswaram fishermen. In both cases, the government's apathy is glaring and unjustified.
If this neglect is due to a deliberate attempt to sideline or reinterpret Bharati through the lens of Dravidian ideology, it is truly regrettable. Bharati belongs to all of Tamil Nadu. He respected both Indian nationalism and Tamil identity. More importantly, he was a staunch supporter of secularism and human dignity.
It is also worth remembering that the Bharati Memorial Home in Ettayapuram was established by none other than former Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Today, it is saddening that his son, Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin, has failed to even take basic steps to restore the very house his father helped preserve.
A century may have passed since Bharati's time, but our commitment to honoring his legacy must remain timeless. The silence and inaction must end.
