*Map of India, 1903. Produced by Dodd, Mead & Company. Dodd, Mead and Company was founded by Moses Woodruff Dodd in 1839 in New York City. It continued to be in operation till 1990. Notice the clearly marked northern boundaries*.
*In 1948, when Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the primeminister of India, 14,139 km² of it was forcibly occupied by Pakistan. Later Pakistan ceded 1,942 km² of this area to China in 1963. During Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's prime ministership yet another 38000 km² area was forcibly occupied by China in 1962*.
*After Jawaharlal Nehru's death, China tried to occupy more area in 1967 but was pushed back. It made another effort in 2020 but was stopped. Pakistan too tried to occupy some more area in 1999 but was militarily pushed back*.
*The map also shows Sikkim as part of India and clearly marks out Nepal and Bhutan as independent states*.
