“TRYST WITH DESTINY”
Famous speech of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji on the occasion of independence:
We made a promise to meet destiny, and it is time for us to keep our promise, not completely true, but to a great limit. Today at pm, when the whole world is sleeping, India will rise with the new morning of life and freedom. A moment that comes very little in history, when we leave the old one and go towards the new one, when an end of an era, and when the soul of a country oppressed for years, can say its word. It is a coincidence that on this holy occasion we are taking pledge to serve India and its people, and even more than that, to serve all humanity.
With the beginning of history, India started its endless search, and do not know how many centuries are filled with its grand successes and failures. Whether it is good times or bad, India never removed its vision from this search and never forgot its ideals that gave it power. Today we are ending an era of misfortune and India is able to find itself again. The achievement we are celebrating today is just a step, the opening of new opportunities, greater victory and achievements are waiting for us. Do we have so much power and intelligence that we understand this opportunity and accept the future challenges?
In the future, we do not have to rest or sit peacefully, but to keep our efforts, so that we may fulfill the word that we repeat and again today. The service of India means serving millions of people. This means removing poverty and ignorance, removing the inequality of diseases and opportunity. The greatest man of our generation has the ambition to wipe out tears from each eye. It may not be possible for us, but as long as people have tears in their eyes and they suffer, we will not be finished.
And therefore we must work hard and work hard, so that we may make our dreams come true. Those dreams are for India, but they are also for the whole world, today no one can think of himself as different as all nations and people are connected to each other. Peace has been called inseparable, in the same way freedom is also inseparable, prosperity and destruction too, now this world cannot be divided into small parts. We have to build the great of independent India where all her children can live.
Today is the set time, a day that was decided by destiny - and once again after years of struggle, India stands awake and independent. To some extent, our ghost is still stuck with us, and we often have a lot to do before we fulfill our promises. But yet the final point is past, and a new history has begun for us, a history that we will build and more people will write about.
This is a good moment for us, a new star has risen, the star of freedom in the east. , a new hope has been born, a distance has come into existence. I wish this star never goes down and this hope never goes down. ! May we always be happy in this freedom.
The future is calling us. Where should we go and what effort should we be, so that we can bring freedom and opportunity for common man, farmers and workers, we can fight poverty, ignorance and diseases, we can build a prosperous, democratic and progressive country. , and can we establish social, economic and political institutions that can ensure perfection and justice of life for every man-woman?
We have to work hard. None of us can sit peacefully until we fulfill our word, until we reach all the people of India to the destination where destiny wants to reach them.
We are all citizens of a great country, which is on the verge of intense development, and we have to get that high level. Whatever religion we are, we are equally the children of mother India, and we all have equal rights and responsibilities. We can't promote any more narrow thinking, because no country can become great as long as the thinking or actions of its people are narrow.
