Canada panders to Khalistani elements in the name of freedom of expression

For once both Congress and BJP, always squaring off with each other, are now united in their condemnation of Canada which looked the other way as the pro-Khalistani groups in the country   took out a parade with a tableau glorifying the assassination of former Congress Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the city of Brampton on June 4.

The event was held to commemorate the Operation Blue Star launched by Indira Gandhi to flush Khalistan extremists out of the Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, and the death of the Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale (June 6).

The float depicted two Sikh bodyguards shooting Indira Gandhi with  a slogan engraved on it: ‘Revenge of Attack on Shri Darbar Sahib’.
Condemning the impunity given by Canada to the Khalistiani elements denigrating the late Indian leader, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said it does not augur well for Canada to allow extremist elements go their way with the G-20 summit not far away. Canada seems to have allowed the radical Sikhs purely swayed by votebank considerations as the Sikh diaspora make up the major votebank in the city of Brampton, Jaishankar said.
Yet the parade organizers say it is their annual martyrdom day celebration in which the city Mayor too took part last year.

The pro-Khalistani elements are enjoying a great deal of impunity in Canada as they have vandalized some Hindu temples and got away with it in the past.

India will never appreciate nor pardon Canada’s mischievous indifference to the wounds inflicted by the Khalistani radicals on the Indian sensibilities and sentiments.
