இந்நிகழ்வில், இந்திய நிதி அமைச்சருடன் நிர்மலா சீத்தாரான் கிழக்கு மாகாண ஆளுநருடன் பங்கேற்றார்.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman visited the Lanka IOC Tank Farms in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, today.
H.E. Mr. Senthil Thondaman, Governor of Eastern Province, Sri Lanka; and Shri Gopal Baglay, India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, were also present.
During the visit, the Union Finance Minister also commissioned two tanks, each with 10,000 MT capacity, that were recently renovated & upgraded by Lanka IOC.
Later, FM Smt Nirmala Sitharaman also visited the Lube blending plant with a capacity of 18,000 KL per annum and Sri Lanka's only grease manufacturing plant with a capacity of 3,000 MT per annum being operated by Lanka IOC.
She also planted a sapling at the Lanka IOC Tank Farms in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, during the visit.
Smt Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the State Bank of India Branch in Trincomalee, today, during her official visit to Sri Lanka.
H.E. Mr. Senthil Thondaman, Governor of Eastern Province, Sri Lanka; Shri Gopal Baglay, India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and Chairman SBI Shri Dinesh Khara were also present at the inauguration.
After inaugurating the branch, the FM appreciated that SBI, with its 159 years of significant presence, is the oldest bank in Sri Lanka and continues to grow its business at home and abroad.
During the Sri Lankan economic crisis, SBI's presence in Sri Lanka paved the way for a smooth extension of Line of Credit worth $1 billion by the Govt of India to Sri Lanka.
Besides, SBI Sri Lanka continues to play vital role by supporting corporates in international trade.
SBI in Sri Lanka continues to scale up remittance through a robust #DigitalPlatform via SBI Sri Lanka YONO app and online banking, in addition to the in-branch operations.
After the inauguration, the FM interacted with the new branch officials and distributed passbooks to new customers, besides filling the visitor’s book in Trincomalee.

Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and Thiru Jeevan Thondaman, Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Shri Gopal Bagalay, India High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, senior ministers of the Sri Lankan Government and other dignitaries were present during the event.
