GLOBAL PEACE INDEX 2017

In being peaceful India features at #137 out of 163 countries. In the past one year the position of India has improved by 4. 

The most peaceful countries of the world include Iceland, New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Canada, Switzerland, Ireland, Japan and Australia, in that order. This is followed by Bhutan, Norway, Hungary, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands,

Singapore, Mauritius, Spain, Chile, Romania, Slovakia, Botswana, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Qatar, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Estonia, Lithuania, Italy, Sierra Leone and Taiwan. 

The countries that are listed as being more violent than India are, in the descending order: Philippines, Egypt, Mali, Burundi, Mexico, Venezuela, Israel, Palestine, Colombia, Turkey, Lebanon, Nigeria, North Korea, Russia, Pakistan, Dem. Rep. Congo, Ukraine, Central African Rep., Sudan,  Libya Somalia, Yemen, South Sudan, Iraq,  Afghanistan, Syria.
