*இளமைக்காலத்தின் மகிழ்ச்சிகரமான பொழுதுகள் யாவும் மாயப்பொய்களால் நிரம்பியவை. அப்போது நமக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டவை அனைத்தும் பிற்கால வாழ்வின் குரூர யதார்த்தத்தை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கோ முகத்தில் அறையும் நடைமுறை உண்மைகளைச் சமாளிப்பதற்கோ கிஞ்சித்தும் உதவுவதில்லை. நமக்குச் சொல்லிக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டதும் பயிற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டதும் பயனற்றுப் பொருளிழந்துவிடுகின்றன. வெறும் பொய்கள், பொய்கள், பொய்கள்! நிகழ்காலத்தின் உண்மைகளிலிருந்து தப்பிப்பதற்காகவே நாம் எப்போதும் இளமையை நினைவுகூர்கிறோம். ஏனெனில் பொய்யைவிட வசீகரம் மிக்கது ஏதுமில்லை*.
