Vedire Ramachandra Reddy, of Pochampally village (hands folded), gave a 100 acres of his land to Acharya Vinoba Bhave as bhoodan on April 18th, 1951. A few days later he would donate more land, taking the total to 800 acres. Ramchandra Reddy thus became the first Indian to donate land to the Bhoodan movement.
