#BetrayalOfTamilNaduFarmers Fraud by the TVK government in agricultural loan waiver! Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party, State President #NainarNagendran Statement ---------- Chief Minister Mr. Josap Vijay has failed to properly and fully implement the promise of agricultural loan waiver announced to Tamil Nadu farmers, and the fact that farmers across Tamil Nadu are conducting road blockades and various protests in condemnation of this is deeply distressing. In the last election, Chief Minister Mr. Josap Vijay had stated that agricultural crop loans would be completely waived. However, announcing that only crop loans up to Rs. 50,000 will be waived is a deceitful tactic that disappoints farmers! The TVK government has deceived farmers by not fulfilling the election promise that "farmers with up to 5 acres of land will receive a complete crop loan waiver." Not only that, but after announcing free electricity up to 200 units, imposing the condition that there will be no free electricity beyond 500 units contradicts this and has plunged the people of Tamil Nadu into great shock! By letting the election promise of waiving crop loans fly away into thin air, Chief Minister Mr. Josap Vijay has committed a great betrayal against Tamil Nadu farmers. Without further delay, the TVK government must: • Fix controlled prices for agricultural produce. • Provide Rs. 3,500 per quintal for paddy, • Give Rs. 4,500 per ton as incentive to farmers for sugarcane. • Ensure that prices for agricultural inputs, seeds, and fertilizers are set in a way that does not burden farmers. • Accelerate public works schemes to protect water bodies. Furthermore, even though there is permission for farmers to use anthill soil for their agriculture, revenue department and police officials are stopping and detaining the bullock carts of farmers transporting anthill soil here and there, subjecting the great farming community to unspeakable suffering. Former Chief Ministers Karunanidhi, Selvi Jayalalithaa, and Edappadi Palaniswami, when waiving loans, reduced the loan burden on farmers without any discrimination, keeping only their welfare in mind. They waived all kinds of agricultural loans, including loans for dairy cows and livestock rearing, agricultural machinery loans, agricultural gold loans, and self-help group loans for women. During the election period, Mr. Josap Vijay said, "I am not a farmer; nevertheless, I am one who knows the wounds of farmers," but now, by announcing a crop loan waiver in a disappointing manner, this is an unfair, eye-washing action. The election promise has turned out to be false. There will certainly be protests from farmers against Chief Minister Mr. Josap Vijay, who came to power by deceiving farmers with talk of loan waivers. The farmers' protests are like a fire that continues to smolder without being extinguished. From 1970 to 1992, 57 Tamil Nadu farmers became victims of police firing in farmers' struggles—this historical event must be realized by Mr. Josap Vijay. The Tamil Nadu farmers' struggle is the farmers' righteous anger! The TVK government must not misjudge this. With the sentiment that "When the farmer rises, the world rises," the TVK government must take action to eradicate the hunger of the Tamil Nadu people. I request Chief Minister Mr. Josap Vijay, who neglects righteous agriculture, not to sideline the rights of farmers and deceive them. Nainar Nagendran State PresidentThursday, June 11, 2026
