Thiruvalluvar Day!

 Thiruvalluvar Day!

We all know that since 1971, Thiruvalluvar Day has been celebrated on Thai 2. Before that, it appears that Thiruvalluvar Day was observed on Vaikasi Anusham Day (Palm Day). [Though we refer to it in the singular as Anusham Nakshatram, it actually denotes a cluster of stars; our ancestors, upon observing this stellar cluster in space, considered it to resemble the fronds of a palmyra tree and thus referred to Anusham in Tamil as "pana" (palm).] Scholars such as Maraimalai Adigal, N. Mu. Ve. Naattamaa, Thiru. Vi. Ka., and Ma. Po. Si., among many others, expressed their full support for celebrating Thiruvalluvar Day on Vaikasi Anusham Day, as noted in the Thiruvalluvar Thirunaal Malar published by the Tamil Marai Kazhagam of Sri Lanka on May 5, 1955. rmrl.in/ta/dl/books/35திருவள்ளுவர்-திருநாள்-மலர் In the Thiruvalluvar Temple built in Mylapore, Thiruvalluvar's birthday is still celebrated even today on the Anusham Day of the Vaikasi month. Therefore, let the opposition leader take note that this is not some fabrication or falsehood—it's the truth! There has also been a tradition among us of considering Maasi Uthiram, rather than Vaikasi Anusham, as Thiruvalluvar Day. The statue of Thiruvalluvar in the image and the inscription below it reading "Maasi Uthiram" serve as evidence of this. I believe this statue is located in the Gomuktheeswarar Temple in Thiruvaavaduthurai; if it's another Shiva temple, please let me know, friends. 🙂 Seeing the name "Thiruvalluvar Deva Naayanaar" within the precincts of a Shiva temple makes one wonder if this is an expression of the view that Valluvar's aphorisms reflect Saiva Siddhanta principles. 😇 The aphorisms emphasize virtue, love, and grace. Since the tenets of religious texts largely align with the aphorisms, people of every faith have long been in the habit of painting Valluvar in the colors they prefer and claiming, "He's one of ours!" Only those who delve deeply into Valluvar's teachings can truly understand that Valluvar's thoughts transcend all colors! #திருவள்ளுவர்நாள் #ThiruvalluvarDay #வைகாசிஅனுஷம் #வைகாசிப்பனைநாள் #மாசிஉத்தரம் #தைஇரண்டு
